Job Description

The Proactive Pollution Engineer will work pro-actively to reduce both first-time and repeat asset failures which cause pollution. You will monitor the progression of investigations and repair work through the process to avoid repeat occurrences, whilst ensuring corporate risk records are created and updated. You will participate where required in ‘Root cause’ analysis reviews of pollution incidents and near misses to gather reactive learning to feed into prevention of future pollution incidents.

The Proactive Pollution Engineer will provide engineering support to our front-line teams and they will provide an effective link between field teams and Asset Planning to promote asset risk.

Working with a team of engineers and technicians you will support and embrace proactive ways of working to reduce both first-time and repeat failures, contributing to the delivery of our performance commitments.

You will monitor escapes recording, ensuring that where a reportable event has occurred, the appropriate response procedures are followed, and the incident is properly recorded, reported and investigated.

Responsibilities:

• You will be a subject matter expert on Escapes and Pollution Incidents and have a good understanding of environmental risk
• You will have excellent analytical skills and be proficient in the use of all Microsoft Office applications.
• You will be highly motivated with a clearly demonstrated ability to use your own initiative in dealing with unforeseen events.
• You will have strong interpersonal, written and communication skills, with an ability to build and maintain a network of working relationships to work across teams and departments both internally and externally.
• Strong Influencing and negotiating skills at both operational and management levels
