Position Title: Web Performance Developer Advocate

Job Description
Passionate people are everywhere at Google. In Developer Relations, we are excited to collaborate and connect with the communities that love technology as much as we do. Part community manager and part developer advocate, Developer Programs Engineers collaborate with developers at conferences and online, and advocate for developers interests internally at Google. You write sample code and client libraries as well as participate in developer forums and support queues to troubleshoot and debug coding problems developers encounter. Internally, you work with product engineering teams to improve our products by conveying feedback from developers, reviewing API designs, and testing new features. Chrome, Android, App Engine, HTML5, and our core Google Workspace and Ads APIs are just some of the platforms you promote and support.
Responsibilities:
- Advocate for the advancement of web performance to the developer community with a focus on the Core Web Vitals metrics and related performance measurement tools.
- Promote the adoption of web performance best practices to developers in-person and online by presenting at conferences, blogging, writing technical tutorials, and more.
- Provide technical guidance and expertise to partner teams using/integrating with Core Web Vitals and performance measurement tools (e.g., best practices, bug resolution, and topics on the roadmap that might be relevant to them).
- Understand challenges for developers trying to optimize for performance, and advocate internally for their use cases by working with Product Management, Engineering, Public Relations, Marketing, Business Development, and cross-functional teams to help get developers what they need from our products.
Requirements:
- Experience as a software engineer, developer, or equivalent technical experience
- Experience with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
- Experience working with third-party developers
