Job Description

Take the Carrick Yard housing development in Luton Street. When a big international building firm couldn’t find a sales partner, we stepped in to create a joint venture partnership and underwrite any unsold units to protect our investment. Then when we felt a big banking partner would be overcharging the venture for financing the development, we decided to finance it ourselves. The result? 171 homes are now under construction, leading the redevelopment of the Church Street area, whilst the council is projecting a potential return on investment of almost 14% – far in excess of anything that can be achieved on cash deposits in current market conditions.

Responsibilities:

• As a Senior Commercial Specialist you can make your own powerful contribution.
• You’ll join a growing procurement and commercial team as specialist practice lead, progressing your strategic leadership skills in a group full of innovation, skill and enthusiasm.
• You’ll have a varied portfolio – including projects across Environment and City Management and Corporate Property – offering real diversity in workload.

Requirements:

• You’ll work closely with a designated Business Partner to co-ordinate the delivery of work in your specialism.
• We’ll look to you to ensure technical consistency and identify cross-cutting, and strategic procurement and innovation opportunities, lead high value/high risk tenders through all stages of the process from initiation to contract mobilisation, as well as acting as a deputy for your Business Partner.
