Position Title: Associate Professor in Human Robot Interaction/Assistive Robotics

Job Description
This post is based at our lively Frenchay campus where we have invested in the latest facilities and resources to give both our staff and students access to everything they need to succeed – £300m has been invested recently on new state-of-the-art learning spaces and accommodation while we continue to develop incredible new facilities to enhance our offer even further.
Responsibilities:
- The job holder will be part of the Bristol Robotics Laboratory (BRL), the largest multi-disciplinary robotics lab in the UK. The professorship will be assigned to the School of Engineering, which is part of the College of Arts, Technology and Environment.
- BRL has a long-standing expertise in Human-Robot Interaction and Assistive Robotics, and the successful candidate will be contributing to the human-centred robotics research at the Lab. BRL is fully equipped with state-of-the art facilities for Human-Robot Interaction and Assistive Robotics research.
- The lab houses the Anchor Robotics Personalised Assisted Living Studio, a fully instrumented simulated assisted living apartment that is a certified test bed for the European Robotics League. BRL furthermore owns numerous robot platforms that can be used for HRI and Assistive Robotics research, including several Softbank Pepper and Nao robots, two PAL Tiago platforms, ABB Yumi, Franka Panda arms, KUKA Co-bots, and Kinova Co-bots.
- The responsibilities include research in Human-Robot Interaction / Assistive Robotics, but also teaching on the Human-Robot Interaction and Assistive Robotics modules on the successful MSc Robotics (in collaboration with University of Bristol) and BEng Robotics programmes at the University of the West of England. We also expect the candidate to take over PhD student supervision in the FARSCOPE Centre for Doctoral Training, which has 10 PhD students every year.
Requirements:
- We are looking for candidates who have demonstrated excellent achievements in research and teaching in an internationally recognized scientific environment. A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific qualification, as well as pedagogical aptitude, are prerequisites.
