Position Title: Head of Responsible Business Consultancy

Job Description

The main purpose of the role is to embed accountability and ownership for the responsible business framework across the business such that our approach becomes pervasive. In doing so, the role will build strong, effective and meaningful relationships with key stakeholders across all corporate entities in the UK and Asia, and in particular with executive and senior leadership.

Responsibilities:

  • You’ll have direct responsibility for specific areas of SJPs Responsible Business framework and strategies including Climate Change, I&D, Financial Education and Community Impact.
  • You’ll be a subject matter expert on responsible business strategies and topics with material significance to SJP, accountable for the corporate delivery of relevant responsible business goals and KPIs.
  • A senior role model and champion of Responsible Business values and behaviours.
  • You’ll provide Responsible Business oversight and shared responsibility for all remaining material topics relating to SJPs Responsible Business framework and strategies including; Investing Responsibly, Responsible Relationships, Responsible Procurement, Human Rights, Policy Influence, Client Satisfaction and retention, Corporate Governance, Risk Management and Data Privacy.
  • Lead and manage a team to embed the Responsible Business framework and philosophy across the company with a focus on subject matter expertise in I&D, Climate Change, Community Impact and Financial Education.
  • In consultation with stakeholders and business function leaders, and working alongside the Head of RB consultation for Partnership and FMT, lead the development of strategic goals and KPIs across all material topics to support our ambition to be a leading responsible business and to feed into the RB dashboard.
  • Act as a senior advisor to the Responsible Business Group, regularly reviewing goals and KPIs, taking into consideration industry and sector developments and working collaboratively with the Responsible Business Senior Analyst to keep abreast of future changes in best practice and regulatory disclosures.
  • Work with Senior Leaders to create business plans to deliver our responsible business goals and support the Head of Responsible Business Implementation to ensure these plans are accurately reflected in our ‘one company’ responsible business programme of activity.
  • Identify risks and issues to the delivery of the responsible business framework.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across all levels of Corporate and Head Office functions to embed the philosophy of Responsible Business into business areas.
  • Work with senior stakeholders to deliver practical advice and support on responsible business topics including strategies for improving inclusion and diversity, volunteering and community impact, carbon reduction, sustainable working and environmental efficiency activities, leading and inspiring our network of responsible business champions.
  • Influence and educate business function leaders and senior stakeholders on the commercial benefits and value of responsible business.
  • Working closely with the Engagement and Reporting function, support the delivery of the Corporate / Head Office responsible business engagement strategy.

Requirements:

  • You’ll be a subject matter expert on responsible business strategies and topics with material significance to SJP. The role will also be accountable for the corporate delivery of relevant responsible business goals and KPIs.
  • A broad and comprehensive understanding of concepts and principles relating to Responsible Business, Environmental, Corporate and Social Governance (ESG), Sustainability, Environment and Climate Change.
  • Proven experience of developing responsible business strategies.
  • Excellent understanding of the commercial business case for responsible business.
  • Good understanding of the ESG frameworks and benchmarks used to determine and assess progress against responsible business goals and KPIs.
  • You’ll have or develop excellent in depth understanding of SJP, Head Office divisions and business functions, and strong understanding of SJPs corporate strategy and how this relates to the responsible business.
  • You’ll have a very good understanding of financial services and in particular, the specific responsible business and sustainability challenges of the industry and sector.
  • A good understanding of future challenges faced by the industry and sector, along with SJPs respective positioning against its peers in the field of responsible business.
  • This individual will be a senior role model and champion of Responsible Business values and behaviours.
  • You’ll demonstrate a collaborative approach to problem solving with the ability to engage others and seek alternative perspectives.
  • Highly developed communication skills, with an excellent ability to influence and negotiate internally (and on occasion externally) and regularly at higher levels of the organisation.
  • Adept at building strong long-term relationships based upon authenticity and trust.
  • Excellent emotional intelligence and able to demonstrate empathy and compassion for others.
  • Excellent presentation skills with the ability to positively, passionately and clearly engage audiences of varying sizes on complex, sensitive and often emotive topics.
  • Leads by example and sets high but achievable standards for own team, acting as a role model across the responsible business team and wider CA&P division.
