Job Description

Enterprise Assurance operate as a 1st line risk team, providing assurance that risk management activities are fully understood, within risk appetite, appropriately controlled and reported. This role will be accountable for leading a team to provide 1LoD assurance by ensuring the Risk Management Framework (RMF) is adhered to in the first line, that key and critical controls are operating and tested effectively and the right outcomes are being delivered for customers. Through reporting of testing results, provide feedback on the testing performance and agreeing action for improvement where required.

Responsibilities:

• Work closely with relevant EA teams to support control and testing automation activity
• Support the development of the EA strategy and lead the co-ordination and delivery of effective information, interpretation and guidance, enabling business areas to address areas of weakness
• Review and establish appropriate control governance, including chairmanship of the Control Improvement Panel to drive out root cause of incidents, identifying any systemic themes across control failures
• Establish a continuous improvement approach to existing controls, drive improvements to control design and test plans – linked to RMF to enhance and/or design new controls and test plans as appropriate – and act as the control SME supporting the business where required
• Be responsible for design and completion of systematic, thematic, end to end and ad-hoc outcome testing across relevant TSB business areas , as well as suitable internal QC and competency frameworks
• Build, maintain and work in partnership with key stakeholders across EA and across the business to ensure outcomes are shared and actions agreed where required
• Lead a team of 34; manage and motivate a high performing team, developing colleagues through stretching objectives, feedback and coaching, contributing to their development and providing ongoing support.
• Be responsible, in partnership with 2nd line and business leads, for the design and implementation of an annual risk-based outcome and control testing plan of bank wide key and critical controls (documented within ARM) and of key customer journeys / processes, taking account of industry and regulatory changes .

Requirements:

• Leadership capabilities to be able to influence, collaborate and make informed decisions
• Specific experience in a leadership role for customer outcomes or control testing
• Demonstrable experience (at least 3 years) in 1st or 2nd line risk management role
• Strong stakeholder management skills
• Possess a strong understanding of and ability to communicate risk management frameworks to stakeholders
• Ability to provide insightful information, guidance and advice and challenging business areas to assess the downstream implications linked to their decisions
• Possess strong written and verbal communication skills, able to convey complex information in a simple way
