Job Description:

The City of Seattle’s City Budget Office is seeking a problem-solver who is ready to help policy makers determine which initiatives and programs to fund.  Our Fiscal and Policy Analysts work as part of a team to analyze proposals and develop recommendations to the City’s top officials, including the Mayor, City Council members, and members of City departments.   To accomplish this, the analyst will research, analyze and summarize complex proposals, work on a variety of teams, communicate clearly with people from a variety of backgrounds and build and maintain productive working relationships.

Responsibilities:

• Perform highly complex, multi-dimensional, on-going or ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting across all funding sources to support and inform management decision-making.
• Identify risks associated with any type of audit.
• Strategically plan financial process from budgeting, expense, and contracting to meet divisional current and future financial goals.
• Reconcile financial data on various grants expense, budgets, and awards for various funding sources for integration into resource planning.
• Develop, allocate, and monitor budgets to align program budgets with the programmatic strategy and goals.
• Deliver presentations on complex financial and/or operational topics to a wide variety of stakeholders.

Requirements:

• Support Divisional Management on decision-making and policy formulation using financial data, financial policies and procedures using analytic reporting.
• Collect, manage, and analyze financial data and information critical to various HSD programs.
• Maintain divisional budgets in collaboration with Division management.

• Maintain financial coding in PeopleSoft 9.2.

• Develop and maintain program grant revenue projections in support of the Division’s strategic planning efforts.  Oversee the analysis and presentation of the resulting data.
• Direct the design and construction of various financial reporting templates using a variety of tools including:  Excel, PeopleSoft reporting, Tableau, Microsoft Word, and PowerPoint
• Serve on cross-divisional teams and committees and oversee the development and presentation of data and analysis critical to informed decision-making.
