Position Title: Safety Officer

Job Description:

The Safety Officer sits within Regional Transport and is responsible for supporting the development and implementation of occupational health and safety programs and procedures to ensure Department of Transport’s proactive safety culture in the region. The role will also support compliance with safety obligations and will work closely with the Corporate Safety Team

Responsibilities:

• VPS4: $90,067 – $102,192 per annum plus super
• Ongoing Full Time
• Grampians Region ( Flexibility may be available)

Requirements:

• Improved Safety Culture – The Safety Officer has contributed to a significant improvement in safety culture across the region, working collaboratively with Safety Advisors and the broader Corporate Safety Team. This will be achieved through a combination of training staff, information sharing, developing Safe Work Method Statements, safety management plan and risk registers, promoting best practice and conducting audit activities.
• Compliance – The incumbent has ensured that safety programs and procedures in the region comply with safety legislation and DoT guidelines.
• Risk Assessments – Ensure safety risk assessments are completed for all works by working with project managers and site supervisors to develop their skills
• Assurance Activities – The incumbent has completed assurance activities in a consultative manner, resulting in improved safety on work sites.
