Responsibilities:

• Working across the process development teams to deliver a strategic and consistent approach to use of digital and automation technologies, and to advise these teams on how best to benefit from modern principles and techniques.
• Ensure that all the facility automation processes are robust and highly capable, meeting the required levels of availability with key process variables, statistical process control methods.
• Create, maintain and/or govern elements of the Technical Package (technical instructions, programmes, tooling, etc.) which clearly define the manufacturing process and control it effectively
• Develop a close working relationship with our key suppliers, our Manufacturing Technology group and our research partners to ensure the automation programmes are delivered to specification on time and budget.
• Plan and manage activities including schedule, resources and costs, gaining buy-off and communicating current status to relevant stakeholders. Ensure issues and risks are resolved to meet project timescales. Ensure manufacturing processes comply with all legal requirements (regulatory, Health, Safety & Environmental Standards, etc) meet the expectations of the Zero Harm programme.

Requirements:

• An understanding of Robot system technologies – Fanuc, Kuka, and ABB, CNC Machine controllers – Siemens Sinumerik 840D, PLC Control Systems – Siemens Simatic, HMI’s (Human Machine Interface) – WinCC/TIA Portal systems or Cell Scheduling System – SQL database & XML understanding would be advantageous
• Able to resolve technical problems relating to process issues & be able to relate these to how the corresponding automated equipment operates which includes amongst: – sequence of operation, controls system logic, HMI’s, robotics, equipment/process tolerance management, and process capability.
• The ability to successfully deliver technically challenging programmes of work following a structured methodology.
