Job Description
This recruitment will fill several vacant positions which may include the following scheduled hours:
19 or less hours per week no benefits and/or
20 to 29 hours per week with prorated sick/annual leave, paid holidays and PERS (retirement) benefits.
Position is for Valley Recreation (Minden and Gardnerville) for Kid’s Club, Adventure Camp as well as helping with Special Events.
Responsibilities:
- Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the unit’s service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a work team.
- Prepares supplies and materials for programs and activities and prepares snacks; arranges chairs, tables, and sporting or exercise equipment in designated rooms or other areas for scheduled group activities; operates audiovisual equipment, as needed.
- Participates in training opportunities and attends staff meetings.
- Represents the County with dignity, integrity, and a spirit of cooperation in all relationships with staff and the public.
- Assists with preparation and/or leadership of recreation programs and activities, including youth supervision. Leads games and craft activities and interacts with participants; monitors activities of children during recreational trips and/or tours.
- Inspects facility to ensure youth safety; assists with clean-up of facilities and programs.
- Keeps attendance records or scores at events; monitors spectators and participants at special events to ensure orderly conduct.
- Assists general public, customers and staff in person, over telephone and by email; answers inquiries and provides general direction related to recreation activities.
- Receives, stores, and issues sports equipment and supplies.
- Welcomes participants to program and greets parents when needed.
Requirements:
- CPR and First Aid certification within six (6) months of date of employment.
- No crime conviction for Domestic Violence.
- Nevada Class C Driver’s License.
- Category 3 Nevada POST Certification obtained during employment.
- No DUI conviction within the last 5 years.
- Must be 21 years of age at time of hire.
- Must be Citizen of the United States at time of testing for the position.
- Must have no convictions of any crime for which registration in the State of Nevada is required pursuant to NRS 207.090 or 207.152.
- High School education/GED; AND:
- No drug use/sales within 5 years.
