Job Description
As an Intelligence Analyst (Linguist) (Int An (L)) you will find yourself working within a highly trained team, who have the important responsibility of providing timely intelligence to military forces deployed on operations around the world.
Int An (L)s play a vital role in protecting the security of UK, National and International interests by interpreting, analysing and disseminating intelligence. You will listen to intercepted foreign voice transmissions, using state-of-the-art receiving and recording systems. From this you will provide valuable intelligence about actual or potential enemies and their strengths, weaknesses, movements and locations. There is also the opportunity to act as an interpreter for troops on the ground, translating from native speakers. You will learn at least one foreign language to a high degree of proficiency and will spend much of your RAF life honing these skills or learning new ones.
Responsibilities:
- Collect, collate and evaluate intelligence from multiple sources
- Monitor and analyse radio and electronic transmissions broadcast throughout the world
- Gather valuable information about enemies strengths, weaknesses and movements
- Disseminate tailored Intelligence to commanders, aircrew or troops on the ground
Requirements:
- Commit a minimum of 27 days per year for an initial period of up to 12 years
- Be aged 18-54 (Must attest before 55th birthday – Ex Regulars over the age of 55 may be considered on a case by case basis)
- Pass a Selection Interview and a Specialist Assessment at the Air Intelligence Wing, Chicksands
- Have GCSE at Grade C/4-5 or above or SCE Standard Grade 2/Scottish National 5 in English Language and Maths
- Must have resided in the UK for 7 years immediately preceding application
- Must be a post A-Level, undergraduate student or possess a bilingual proficiency gained through family, overseas or previous training in Russian or Arabic.
- You must have been a citizen of the United Kingdom since birth or a dual British Irish citizen
