Position Title: Quantitative Data Specialist

Job Description
S&P Global Market Intelligence is seeking a Quantitative Data Specialist with a focus on Private Markets to join the New Product Development and Research Team. The successful hire will have the technical capabilities to manipulate and wrangle both structured and unstructured data to build prototypes and validate client use cases. This position reports to the Senior Director of Private Markets New Product Development and will sit on the New Product Development and Research team within Company Information Services (CIS) and is part of the Data, Valuation, and Analytics (DVA) organization with S&P Global Market Intelligence.
Responsibilities:
- Ingest, clean, and analyze data sets from third parties to assess benefits to CIS / DVA business.
- Present prototype results to the broader team, with ability to document technical concepts to a diverse audience.
- Conduct hands-on, actionable, innovative hypothesis testing and use results to help senior leadership make vital business decisions.
- Collaborate with content and data science teams to leverage expertise around new techniques to build and validate new product use cases.
- Work with sales and go-to-market to provide subject matter expertise on new products. Surface case studies and work with marketing to document product value-add.
- Provide thought leadership on projects and help identify value for clients.
Requirements:
- Extensive knowledge of private markets with at least 2 years of experience in a role involving private markets data
- 3+ years experience conducting empirical research, data validation, or technical modeling
- 3+ years experience working with big data techniques; Experience with cloud architecture / distributed computing preferred
- Able to establish credibility with clients and fellow team members around Private Markets/Private Equity related ideas
- Expertise in statistics, machine learning or data science experience preferred
- Passion for private markets, client workflow, data wrangling
- Strong technical and programming skills in SQL and Python
- Organized and detail oriented
- Excellent presentation skills
