Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to secure the delivery of the Government’s levelling up ambition, right at the heart of government. As Mission Lead, the successful candidate will lead the Levelling Up team in the No10 Delivery Unit to support departments and delivery partners on successful delivery and embedding of the commitments in the Levelling Up White Paper. They will work with the Head of the No10 Delivery Unit to build robust networks at the most senior levels in departments and amongst the network of top local leaders to monitor and support delivery, as well as strengthening the focus on delivery at the centre of government.

Responsibilities:

Managing the notification of registration with the Information Commissioner’s Office and, where necessary, report data protection breaches within the statutory timeframe and any communication with the Information Commissioner’s Office.</li>
Advising and supporting business areas in understanding their obligations under data protection legislation, highlighting any potential risks.</li>
Devising, managing and maintaining the strategy, policies, processes and procedures for meeting the requirements of data protection legislation.
Monitoring the implementation of policies, processes and procedures across the Inquiry, and overseeing internal data protection audits.</li>
Advising the Chair and Panel and senior management on DPA related matters. Ensure they are able to make fully informed decisions on Inquiry data policies.</li>
Be the first point of contact for the ICO and individuals whose data is processed.</li>
Ensuring that the rights of data subjects are upheld and that data subjects exercising their rights are dealt with correctly and to deadline.</li>

Requirements:

Work with business areas to ensure appropriate cyber security expertise is provided for business and IT projects and change.</li>
Supporting the business in the management of risk around data protection, advising on data protection impact assessments, and monitoring compliance.</li>
Responsible for the Cyber Security governance and practice within the Inquiry and working with a supplier to ensure that cyber risks and issues are identified and appropriate remediation plans put in place and reported on to senior management.</li>
Delivering mandatory data protection training and ensuring awareness procedures are in place and monitor that all staff are appropriately trained and updated as necessary.</li>
Investigating, or supporting the investigation of cyber security incidents alongside our technical colleagues and contractors.</li>
