Position Title: Education Data Manager

Job Description

We are looking for an Education Data Manager to work across the education programmes, with the education team and associated teams, to provide data analysis that supports the culture of improvement and outstanding education provision. The right candidate will have first class communication and presentation skills, a strong background in education data management, a proven track record in using data to affect change within education, and high levels of accuracy in all their work.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the development of the education attainment data analysis for players from 9-16; 16-18 and post 18;
  • Work with the alumni manager to support the analysis of data for former Academy Players;
  • Inform the Youth Leadership team within the Premier League of any process issues or modifications resulting from validation errors or changes in external data requirements;
  • Manage data integrity and validation and submit to the data service as required under the Premier League contract with the ESFA as required;
  • Manage the requirement for reporting performance to the Premier League on a regular basis for the ESFA Apprenticeship contract, including ILR submissions and tracking on Maytas;
  • Oversee the process and collection of education attainment data for players in the Youth Development Phase through SISRA;
  • Work with the operational team to identify and develop recommendations to improve performance.
  • Oversee the production and analysis of education related data for Academy Players aged 9-23;
  • Ensure awareness of and compliance with the Premier League’s data strategy
  • Communicate a range of information through writing, presentations and discussion to contribute to strategic decision making within the organisation.
  • Produce performance analysis reports for the Premier League for quality assurance purposes;
  • Represent the Premier League for any discussions with the ESFA and the data service regarding any aspect of the Apprenticeship contract.
  • To undertake qualitative and quantitative statistical analysis of management information to identify trends for the self-assessment and quality improvement planning process. Regular reports should be delivered in relation to this analysis;
  • Ensure there are regular and frequent communication with the Finance team to ensure all HMRC and ESFA records are maintained and accurate.
  • Working with the Business Intelligence team to manage data integration with core business systems and the coordinated provision of reports and analysis to Clubs and stakeholders
  • Ensure monthly returns (to be submitted to the data service on time and in the correct format as required to trigger funding) are made in a timely and accurate manner
  • Raise awareness and maximise the use of, both internally and externally, data held in relation to the Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) contract;
  • Work collaboratively with other departments and working / focus groups in the Premier League in the production of data to support the work of the education team and contributing to the wider business;
  • Manage the data capture, analysis and internal/external reporting in relation to the Education Skills Funding Agency (the “ESFA”) Sporting Excellence Professional Apprenticeship;
  • Develop and demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of the Sporting Excellence Professional apprenticeship programmes, they will provide updates to apprentices and the team in order to ensure that the plans are accurate and up to date
  • Provide support and guidance to stakeholders (Clubs) on the use of SISRA and education data analysis;

Requirements:

  • Proven ability to handle confidential information and exercise discretion
  • Ability to think critically.
  • Knowledge of Work-Based Learning and Levy funded Apprenticeship Programmes
  • Ability to use data to inform change and improvement
  • High level presentation skills
  • Ability to see both the big picture and advanced attention to detail skills
  • Graduate with relevant degree
  • Post Graduate qualification in Data Management
  • Ability to interpret written information in a structured and balanced way and present it appropriately to the needs of the reader
  • A hunger for continued learning and continuous professional development
  • Experience of communicating with relevant agencies
  • High personal integrity and professional conduct
  • DBS Clearance
  • Experience of the Premier League’s preferred Business Intelligence Tool, Qlik
  • Understanding of education in professional sport
  • Reliable, friendly and able to work with own initiative and as part of a team
  • Experience of working within an education institution
  • A proven track record of using data analysis for performance improvement
  • Previous experience with Education monitoring systems e.g. SISRA, ALPS connect
  • Strong IT skills; proficiency with MIS and learning management systems
  • Previous experience working with MIS / LMS systems
  • Experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Understanding of how to use data to affect change
  • A good communicator with clear and concise written and spoken communication skills
  • Understanding of the education system
  • Understanding of education funding systems
  • Experience of project management
  • 2-5 years’ experience of Data Management and Reporting in Education
  • Strong time management and organisational skills
  • Enthusiastic, self-motivated and driven
