Responsibilities:

You will report to the Vision and Hearing Team Leader. As a Specialist Teacher Adviser for Hearing Impairment you will be identifying and assessing the needs of children and young people who have a hearing impairment, you will have the support of other professionals, teachers and parents and will be in line with SEND Code of Practice. You will be a point of call for teachers and teaching assistants and provide advice and support for them so they can best support children and pupils with hearing impairment. You will be providing intervention and specialist teaching to children and pupils required and monitor the progress of children who have significant hearing impairment.

Requirements:

The Vison and Hearing Team are based in the Civic Offices and are a highly regarded Team within the Inclusion Service, which is part of the Education Department. The team consist of 6 supportive, enthusiastic, skilled and experienced Teacher Advisors and who work with children and young people from the ages of 0-25 years old. Portsmouth Vision and Hearing Team is committed to enhancing children’s development and potential through individual casework and teaching, work at an organisational level and by contributing at a strategic level within Education, Health and Social Care across the city.
