Responsibilities:

• Performs other duties as required. Job description statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees assigned to this job title. They are not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties and skills required.
• Prepares, organizes and instructs nutrition education classes. Performs nutritional assessment including the determination of normal growth patterns and diet adequacy. Performs formula approvals and breast pump issuance. Determines eligibility of clients, data entry, food supplements to be received, issues food benefits, and refers clients to proper health agencies. Performs anthropometric measurements, obtain and evaluate blood iron level and assesses present health status of clients.

Requirements:

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition Sciences, Human Nutrition or Dietetics, Community Nutrition, Public Health Nutrition, Clinical Nutrition or Home Economics with Food and Nutrition major with twenty-four (24) semester hours credit in food and nutrition. Bilingual ability (English/Spanish) preferred but not required.
• Ability to plan, organize, and present nutrition information. Ability to initiate and establish priorities and goals; to understand and follow oral and written instructions; to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and public. The ability to operate PC, copier, fax machine, scanner, and multi-line phone system. The ability to touch type is preferred. Must have the ability to handle a variety of tasks simultaneously; work quickly under pressure; and maintain confidentiality.
•  A working knowledge of health and nutrition. Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures and equipment.
• Constantly sees and hears; frequently writes by hand, sits, walks, stoops, bends; frequently enters data and operates PC.
