Job Description

Responsibilities:

• Provides managed legal services relating to a variety of legal fields (or deep level of single specialty) to a defined area of Company / Business. This may include coaching and mentoring of less experienced lawyers. Senior individual contributor. May have country responsibility. As ECM will be for the Global Class of Business/larger global function roles.
• Handles legal complexity in portfolio (TO BE COMPLETED FOR EACH JOB DESCRIPTION, AS REQUIRED)
• Clients at more senior levels (GM) in business units, both within Country and abroad. Extensive external interfaces with third parties. Manages outside counsel involved in projects / litigation. As ECM, job holder will likely be addressing senior business leadership teams on a quarterly basis and providing advice directly to members of those LTs.
• Makes professional judgement as to when to refer decisions / issues to manager. Consults and keeps manager informed at significant checkpoints. Has considerable professional autonomy and will consult with line manager only on more significant, novel or material legal or risk issues and decisions.

Requirements:

• Provides managed legal services relating to a variety of legal fields to a defined area of Company / Business. Mainly local or regional accountabilities for providing general legal advice to a single part of the business/country or regional/local accountability to provide specialist advice. May have country responsibility.
• Country and/or business issues unlikely to be material in terms of Group exposure.
• Management of a small team of lawyers / patent attorneys/paralegals. MC has significant individual performer role as well as management of team.
• Manages legal complexity in portfolio (TO BE COMPLETED FOR EACH JOB DESCRIPTION, AS REQUIRED)
• Clients at more senior levels (GM) in business units, both within Country and abroad. Extensive external interfaces with third parties. Manages outside counsel involved in projects / litigation.
• Has some professional autonomy but will consult line manager on more significant/novel/material legal or risk issues and decisions. Consults and keeps manager informed at significant checkpoints.
