Job Description

The Service Delivery team are responsible for ensuring that our current solutions and services are reliable, secure and available at the times the Met needs them. They do this in conjunction with our technology partners to deliver the services to agreed standards, objectives and cost. Digital Policing (DP) has adopted an approach to managing multiple suppliers of services, via the Service Integration and Management (SIAM) methodology. SIAM is the coordination of people, processes, tools and technology, data, contracts and governance across multiple suppliers to ensure effective and efficient end-to-end delivery of IT services to the business.

Service Delivery manage planned and unplanned service outages and any major IT incidents. They are accountable for the effective management of timely resolution of service failures, protecting services and managing our suppliers performance.

Within Service Delivery some services are retained in-house due to their specialist nature. These services are hosted on an enterprise scale platform and supported by the dedicated Secure Services team.

Responsibilities:

• Monitors progress towards strategic goals via KPIs, identifies barriers to achievement and works to address these.
• If required, oversee the implementation of additional strategic decisions made by SvD Executive.
• Work with CTO area, Plan leads and industry / partner sources to maintain a long term view of opportunities particularly those that arise through evolution of service management processes and / or developing technologies.
• Oversee all activities of Service Delivery Strategy formulation and alignment. Develop and maintain the overall SvD Strategy including objectives, KPIs and linked to existing Delivery Programmes. Use innovative approaches to review the Strategy through different perspectives to identify gaps and opportunities.
• Manage the quarterly SvD leadership team strategy days and develop and oversee the implementation of a Maturity strand and working group.
• Support colleagues and subject matter experts in the Service Integration team in developing their own strategies and plans-on-a-page.
• Review and optimise the existing and pipeline delivery portfolio leading to performance improvement across the business.
• Embed strategic alignment into the business justification process.

Requirements:

• A solid understanding of ICT service delivery including ITIL, supplier management and partnership.
• Effective staff management and leadership skills.
• Expert in effective governance and planning.
• Ability to review and consolidate multiple outputs including service reporting, audit findings, programme plans, financial reporting, to identify gaps, overlaps and risks / issues.
• Excellent communication and management skills with an ability to influence senior (to Board Level) and junior staff and stakeholders and build strategic relationships across operation and professional boundaries and with partner organisations.
• Excellent data analysis and presentation skills, including Excel, PowerPoint. Ability to carry out bespoke analysis to support strategy formation e.g. using data from Service Now or financial systems.
• Strategic management including the development, implementation, measurement and delivery of strategic plans.
• Service strategy qualification e.g. ITIL v4 Service Strategy, or COBIT, is desirable and if not held postholder will be supported to complete.
• Ability to operate in a complex organisational and political environment is essential, experience working in the public sector and client side is desirable.
• Education to graduate level or equivalent experience.
