Job Description:
An exciting opening has arisen for an experienced and qualified Occupational Therapist to develop a career in adult social care. If you are HCPC registered and you have completed your preceptorship (post June 2012) then this could be the role for you.
As an Occupational Therapist based in a Locality Team you will be given the opportunity to work with a variety of clients who have differing needs. The clients we work with may experience a learning disability, physical or sensory impairment, mental health and/or be an older person.
Responsibilities:
- You will develop a range of skills enabling you to undertake front-line holistic occupational therapy practice within a social care setting, building your professional experience in major adaptations, reablement skills gain programs, moving and handling assessments with the aim of supporting our clients to live independently in the community.
- You will be part of a multi-skilled team which includes: social workers, occupational therapists, assistant social care practitioners and reablement personnel. As a team we provide support to vulnerable adults and their carers in a community based setting.
- Part of your community based role requires you to carry out home visits within your locality area and on occasion travelling outside of the county. Some of these settings include client’s homes, residential care and nursing homes.
Requirements:
- Ability to complete person centred and proportionate OT assessments including moving and handling risk assessments
- Continuing professional development. Applicants must have, and maintain, current registration with the
- Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and adhere to the HCPC standards for conduct, performance and ethics
- It is essential you hold a full UK driving licence and have use of a car.
- An in-depth knowledge of medical conditions and the likely impact on the individual and ability to demonstrate knowledge of the impact of long term disability on the individual, carer and family
- Experience of working within a social care or community focused multi-disciplinary setting that provides care, support and advice to meet people’s social care needs
