Job Description
We are looking for a new PMO officer to help us in the Portfolio Office Reporting and Insight team. The Portfolio Office is responsible for co-ordinating the Transformation Portfolio; we act as a hub, providing expertise and support to the programmes that make up the portfolio. Our role is to provide an accurate flow of information to senior decision makers to enable them to make the right decisions at the right time, to contribute to the Met mission of keeping London safe for everyone. You will be trusted to use your professional knowledge and experience to process complex information and present it in a simple way to key stakeholders. You should expect to work in an environment of complexity and political sensitivity – managing high-profile stakeholders with conflicting priorities. You will need excellent written and verbal communication skills to ensure that you are able to present information in a clear and concise way.
You will also have the opportunity to work across the Portfolio Office with other areas of specialism, and during your time with us you can expect to have some exposure to Benefits, Resources, Risk and Planning. You will also have the opportunity to provide PMO services to specific programmes within the Transformation Portfolio. You will be given internal training and support to fulfill your role, making this a fantastic opportunity for an individual who wants to develop a wide knowledge of portfolio management offices.
The role is busy and requires someone with energy and enthusiasm to manage a high volume of work to tight deadlines. You must also be confident in dealing with all levels of colleagues and stakeholders- from senior police officers to key stakeholders from external organisations.
Responsibilities:
- Other activities in support of delivering the outcomes and benefits of the Transformation Portfolio which may include supporting planning, benefits and risk as well as providing PMO services.
- Regularly communicating with senior police officers and police staff, as well as key stakeholders from outside the organisation, to provide and to commission high quality, accurate information about the Transformation Portfolio;
- Providing advice and support to programme staff on behalf of the Portfolio Office; maintaining a reporting guidance document and delivering training;
- Commissioning, collecting, quality assuring and analysing information, and presenting your findings in report format;
- Delivering professional secretariat support to uphold portfolio governance. This includes logistics planning, agenda setting, commissioning papers and producing accurate and clear records of actions and decisions made;
- Ensuring the reporting and insight products and processes remain fit for purpose, identifying risks and implementing improvements as appropriate;
Requirements:
- Experience of working in a portfolio office- with exposure to planning, benefits and risk- or within a secretariat would be an advantage
- Are experienced in managing multiple stakeholders and balancing competing demands
- Excellent Microsoft skills- Word, Powerpoint and Excel
- Enjoy working collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- Collating information from a wide variety of sources, tracking and presenting it in a clear way to a senior audience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- An eye for detail, with a methodical working approach to ensure the records of portfolio meetings are accurate and auditable
- Helping to manage stakeholders within a complex environment
- Use experience and insight to enable evidence based decisions to be made
- Can work with integrity and demonstrate respect for others
