Job Description:

The City of Seattle is recruiting qualified candidates for the position of Illumio Micro-Segmentation Engineer with Seattle Information Technology’s (IT) Technology Infrastructure Division. The position will be involved with all aspects of the City’s Illumio Micro-Segmentation project to include analyzing application data flow, creating rulesets, management, documentation, automation, and technical support. This assignment is a six month position with a possibility of extension.

Responsibilities:

• Analyze application data flows and develop Illumio micro-segmentation rules per customer business requirements.
• Work with technical and non-technical departmental clients to implement Illumio into enforce mode.
• Perform Illumio management and administration tasks.
• Schedule and install patches, upgrades, and security fixes.
• Troubleshooting and resolution of service interruptions.
• Consultation regarding application needs, performance, and security.
• Provide analysis, reporting, and recommendations on performance and capacity, automation, and monitoring and alerting efforts as related to micro-segmentation.
• Work with vendors to configure new product enhancements and versioning.
• Provide scripting and automation utilizing PowerShell and APIs.
• Perform varied job tasks commensurate with the IT Professional B level.

Requirements:

• Experience with Micro-Segmentation or Network Firewall solutions.
• Understanding of network protocols (TCP/UDP), network CIDRs and RFC1918 networks.
• Experience with Windows server operating systems, Active Directory, and Group Policy.
• Experience with PowerShell and other scripting tools.
• Strong troubleshooting skills using proactive and reactive methodologies.
• Ability to work under pressure and adapt to quickly changing priorities in a fast-paced technology environment.
• Ability to work within a professional team, provide cooperation and information sharing, and possess interpersonal skills to work with a diverse population with a variety of skillsets.
• Ability to work independently, manage time and competing priorities, own and complete tasks with minimal supervision.
