Job Description:

This position will support the Presiding Judge and Court Administrator with intergovernmental relations with Seattle City Council, Mayor’s Office, and other government agencies to help build collaboration and deeper understanding of how SMC is evolving and responding to criminal legal system reform within City and County government and the Seattle community. The position serves as a content aggregator and will gather insight to inform, involve and advance SMC’s mission, goals, and relationships.

Requirements:

• Advising staff at all levels on best practices for communicating with diverse audiences in ways that foster honest and meaningful engagement.
• Building internal capacity to outreach and co-create programs and services with communities.
• Synthesizing information to present and advocate for policy changes, funding, and programming recommendations.
• Serving on diverse community-based groups or committees and gathering feedback to inform and support decisions in a medium to large organization.
• Earning trust from community partners by facilitating two-way dialogue and seeking potential opportunities for collaboration.
• Liaising with people in leadership and influential roles on how to strategically approach policy priorities and collaboration opportunities. Examples of collaborators include: City Council, the Mayor’s Office, Seattle Office for Civil Rights (SOCR), Human Services Department (HSD), Seattle Police Department (SPD), and community organizations.
• Interpreting policies, guidelines, and procedures.
