An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, proactive and highly motivated health and safety advisor to join our Trading Compliance team in this fast-paced, quality focussed retail environment. Responsibilities:

• Maintain a network of external contacts, proactively meeting stakeholders, attending conferences, meetings and other events with industry bodies and associations, lobby groups, environmental groups, think tanks, and academics, proactively feeding intelligence back into the business
• Coordinate and support existing Public Affairs work across different business units to ensure consistent, strategic approach and information sharing.
• Work with policy holders to enhance engagement across Government with other relevant stakeholders such as trade associations, think tanks, and academics to enhance Lidl’s
• reputation and sphere of influence
• Independent preparation of reports and analysis of reporting on Lidl and the competitor landscape.
• Work across the business to develop and shape policy messages and positioning, advising the wider business on the style, tone and content of messaging to maximise
• stakeholder impact.
• Establish a framework and approach for the company’s Public Affairs engagement based on its strategic priorities.
• Support the delivery of integrated campaigns on issues of strategic importance including messaging, collateral development, stakeholder mapping and forward planning
• Support a community of best practice across the wider Corporate Affairs team through close collaboration with colleagues across the relevant business units.

Requirements:

• Extensive experience within public affairs sector or government departments
• Fluent command of the English Language is essential with excellent written and oral communication skills
• High levels of skill in networking, influencing and negotiation internally and externally
• Ability to contribute to key communication and policy decisions by interpreting internal and external trends and changes with short-, medium- and long-term horizon

• Degree-level education in Public Affairs or similar discipline
• German language skills are desirable but not essential
• Ability to collaborate with internal stakeholders across multiple departments and levels
• Background working directly within government or parliament is desirable
• Understanding of the demands of a fast-growing company looking to strengthen its sustainable growth
• Experience in building and maintaining strong relationships internally and externally
