Part community manager and part developer advocate, Developer Programs Engineers collaborate with developers at conferences and online, and advocate for developers interests internally at Google. Not afraid to be hands-on, you write sample code and client libraries as well as participate in developer forums and support queues to troubleshoot and debug coding problems developers encounter. Internally, you work with product engineering teams to improve our products by conveying feedback from developers, reviewing API designs, and testing new features. Chrome, Android, App Engine, HTML5, and our core Google Workspace and Ads APIs are just some of the platforms you promote and support.

We are looking to help developers navigate the proposals and changes in the Chrome Privacy Sandbox enabling them to continue building a thriving web that is secure and private by default.

As a Developer Relations Engineer, you will primarily focus on understanding and activating the ecosystem around Privacy Sandbox, with activities ranging from inspiring developers with the latest advancements in the platform, to educating the industry on the upcoming changes and proposals. Through collaboration across external partners, Engineering teams, and standard bodies you will provide a bridge mapping these platform changes to developer use cases to drive an excellent developer experience across API surfaces and tooling.

Responsibilities:

• Promote developer best practices in person and online by presenting at conferences, blogging, writing technical tutorials, etc.
• Understand the impact of Privacy Sandbox proposals across projects in ecosystem and provide guidance on adapting to platform changes.
• Advocate for developers internally, and consult Google developer product strategy by working with Product
• Management, Engineering, PR, Marketing, Business Development, and other cross-functional teams to help get developers what they need from our products.
• Advocate for adoption and experimentation on the Privacy Sandbox proposals to strategic partners and broader developer community, with a focus on identifying opportunities for ecosystems and platforms to use
• Privacy Sandbox proposals to improve web experiences.
• Provide technical guidance and expertise to partner teams using or integrating with Privacy Sandbox proposals (ie: best practices, bug resolution and providing feedback on the standards process).

Requirements: 

• Experience creating scalable developer content and effective command of web application, or mobile application development landscapes.
• Broad understanding of the online advertising (i.e. ad serving, ad exchanges, ad networks) and of key platforms and trends (i.e. desktop, mobile, video).
• Experience working with external partners and driving cross-functional technical projects.
• Experience working with client side web technologies (e.g. HTML, CSS, JavaScript, etc.).
• Experience building infrastructures, frameworks, and tools to improve developer experience/speed up development, testing, and release.
• Experience blogging and writing technical articles.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and effectively.
• Experience as a Front-End Lead/Architect, Tech Director, Designer, or Consultant, working with new web platform technologies.
• Experience as a software engineer, developer, or equivalent technical experience.
