Position Title:Jail Records Clerk

Job Description:
Performs a variety of journey-level clerical and office tasks in the Benton County Corrections Department requiring specific knowledge of departmental functions and procedures. Assignments may include: interacting directly with the public; answering inquiries;
assisting with case file maintenance; establishing and updating detailed record keeping systems; verifying and entering data; preparation of warrants, legal documents, reports, and other correspondence; and/or more extensive detailed servicing of the public.
Responsibilities:
- Provides liaison between the department and other law enforcement agencies, the court,
- Prosecutor’s Office, and other agencies, coordinating department activities and schedules as authorized.
- Files and updates data on warrants, case files, corrections records, personnel files, correspondence, etc.
- Performs record checks and other services provided by the office, routine posting of records and balances cash daily.
- Assists the public by processing or receiving various applications, documents and forms, and/or scheduling appointments.
- May assist with coordination of arrangements for prisoner transports into the County.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Sends, originates, receives and routes teletype messages for the Benton County Corrections Department.
Requirements:
- Ability to work quickly, accurately and thoroughly with close attention to detail to meet deadlines.
- skill in operating standard computer programs such as Microsoft Office.
- Ability to read, understand, apply and explain County/department policies and procedures.
- Ability to work independently, organizing work with minimal supervision.
- Working knowledge of bookkeeping practices and procedures.
- Good oral communication skills to explain policies and procedures and to deal with other employees, law enforcement agencies, attorneys, and the general public using courtesy, tact, and good judgment.
- Skill and operating standard office equipment such as scanner, calculator and photocopier.
- Ability to maintain the security and confidentiality of police records and information.
- Ability to establish and maintain complex manual and computerized filing and record keeping system.
