Job Description
The Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) for Emergency Services Network (ESN) is accountable for ensuring that appropriate security standards are agreed with User Organisations, and for ensuring that the ESN solution is built in line with those standards. He/she will work to provide the ESN team with advice and support on cyber security matters for the sector and the department. As an integral member of the ESN team, you will implement the enterprise security strategy, approach and processes to reduce information security risks and enable services to the ESN to be delivered effectively.
You will establish appropriate strategy, standards, controls, and implement policies to protect the ESN’s information assets and technologies. You will also be the ESN’s policy advisor for cyber risk in the sector and be responsible for bringing together the department in its approach to cyber and information security. You will work closely with the emergency services users responsible for security to ensure that standards and ESN solutions have their approval.
Responsibilities:
- An understanding of operational and technical complexity and the ability to identify risks and propose appropriate risk mitigation approaches;
- Experience of developing and executing information security approaches which conform to standard patterns of good practice and managing the delivery of associated information security services while balancing conflicting priorities and dynamic programmes;
- Experience of working in influential and advisory positions in a diverse matrixed organisation.
- The ability to work proactively with digital innovators, identifying how a business solution may be implemented with an appropriate level of risk;
- An expert in Risk Management with practical experience of delivering risk and information system control management and strategies plus a deep understanding of IT and information risk and how it relates to a large-scale complex organisation;
- The ability to provide clear and concise advice to programme leadership and senior stakeholders regarding information security;
- A pro-active dynamic, visible leader who can simplify the complexities of information security and risk management to communicate effectively with staff at all levels and delivery partners.
