Job Description

The Parliamentary Safety Team is the central advisory and support service that assists staff of the House of Lords, House of Commons and Digital Service to manage the wide range of potential safety risks arising in such a complex and diverse organisation. The five safety advisers work together to offer a professional service in response to the different demands of our stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

• The safety risks portfolio includes (but isn’t limited to), hospitality; visitor services; facilities; construction; security; IT; and event management, combining to create a rewarding work environment for an experienced and proactive safety generalist looking to challenge themselves.
• The postholder will also assist the team in identifying safety related priorities, plans and performance targets.
• The varied nature of the parliamentary estate means that the post holder will need to manage several complex tasks and projects at any one time, sometimes with minimal guidance from management and to challenging deadlines.

Requirements:

• We are looking for a proactive candidate to carry out the range of duties expected from an experienced safety adviser.
• They will also have strong interpersonal and excellent communication skills, to inclusively influence and build strong working relationship with senior managers and colleagues.
• They will have significant experience of advising on a broad range of safety risks and identifying creative solutions to facilitate safe working in a heritage setting.
