Job Description

Asylum Protection and Enforcement Directorate sits within the Migration and Borders Group with an interesting and varied portfolio. This project leadership role sits within a newly formed team. The Directorate addresses Human Rights and Family, Asylum, Enforcement and Criminality, Access to Work, Benefits and Services, as well as delivering the government’s New Plan for Immigration.

The programme is both high profile and high priority, seeking to design a new strategic legislative, policy framework and a transformed operational approach for a fairer and more robust system to support those in genuine need of protection.

Responsibilities:

• Dependency management and change management: ensuring the programme outcomes are achieved through the project.
• Relationship management and stakeholder engagement to build ownership, make delivery a joint enterprise and to build and maintain alignment between programme and wider BAU/change with those responsible for delivering the change within the system.
• Assurance and challenge: being the eyes and ears for the programme and maximising relationships to know what is really going on, to obtain alignment of objectives; and to enable the governance to do its job by identifying issues for resolution / challenge / escalation and spotting risks.
• Generating the outline requirements and delivery plan, ensuring the right stakeholders are engaged and joined-up.
• Ensuring the detailed design meets policy requirements: surfacing assumptions / constraints / concerns and challenge to optimise impacts & support Business Case development.
• Developing the end state vision.
