Position Title: Senior Project Manager

Location: Sheffield, UK

Job Description

You will lead / manage the project and the project team on a day-to-day basis and be responsible for driving and overseeing the delivery of the project to ensure that the objectives are clearly defined and achieved within the agreed time, cost and quality constraints. Your role is key in project governance and working with stakeholders, to ensure the agreed project outputs are delivered to enable benefits to be realised.

We require strong communicators who are able to engage with individuals comfortably and Champion the Project Delivery Profession. Our Project environment constantly changes, therefore the project you are assigned to could change and you are encouraged to flex across Project roles.

Responsibilities:

  • Cascade vision and translate into delivery objectives for the team.
  • Develop and maintain Project Plan.
  • Identify and set appropriate Project Controls.
  • Manage performance and report progress to sponsors.
  • Create and lead the project(s) to deliver the agreed outcomes within time, cost and quality constraints
  • Governance – Support effective governance and decision making.
  • Provide reporting and engage in mechanisms that hold you, as Project Manager, to account for delivery.
  • Identify and monitor project(s) risks and issues. D
  • evelop mitigating actions and escalate as appropriate.
  • Identify and work with related projects to manage interdependencies.
  • Engage with assurance reviews and support action on recommendations.
  • Organise assurance processes such as gateway reviews, as required.
  • Identify and manage stakeholder relationships and need for senior level support.
  • Manage internal and external relationships as appropriate.
  • Identify skill requirements; and deploy and develop resources. Manage medium sized team.
  • Ensure effective Change Management processes are in place to agree and document changes to deliverables as agreed with stakeholders.
  • Day to day management and leadership of the project(s) and the project team.
  • Provide effective leadership and management controls.
  • Set project controls.
  • Design the project structure and organisation appropriate to stage.
  • Set appropriate delivery methodologies.
  • Manage effective transition between project phases
  • Provide support, guidance and coaching for the project team.
  • Show commitment to personal development.
  • Promote effective individual and team performance.

Requirements:

  • A strong history of stakeholder management with the ability to establish and develop productive relationships and influence / challenge when required.
  • Engage, motivate and mentor others.
  • To act as a role model and encourage and empower others
  • Previous experience of Government Projects
  • Ability to identify and articulate a clear scope of delivery from competing agendas and interests.
  • Recognised PPM qualifications e.g. MSP, MOP, APM P/Q or Prince 2
  • Previous experience of engaging with senior individuals to identify needs, break down business problems and offer viable solutions.
  • Proven track record of working in a complex fast paced project/programme environment delivering sustainable results in a dynamic setting.
  • Available to take up post within 6 weeks
  • The ability to adapt to changing circumstances and adverse situations whilst remaining calm, reassuring others and maintaining performance.
  • Ability to make active and visible leadership decisions, working with multiple stakeholders and delivery partners to deliver complex projects.
