Position Title: Manual QA Tester

Job Description:
The Manual QA Tester is responsible for ensuring quality throughout the software development lifecycle working with cross-functional teams to test features from a functional and component perspective and also integrated with other systems. This role is responsible to make sure all components within the Hermes system value chain contributing to the product outcome and user experience works appropriately E2E and that the Quality Assurance standards set by the practice are met.
They will work under the guidance of Primes and Senior Testers and will be expected to collaborate very closely with other testers and engineers in order to provide a holistic view of the systems and how they integrate with each other. This will allow engineers to anticipate issues in advance to reduce errors with complex integrations downstream. The Manual QA Tester should always be looking to identify repetitive tasks that can be automated in order to reduce toil and lead time for the deployment of secure code.
They will gain an in-depth understanding of Hermes parcel life-cycle (physical and logical). Will maintain test team standards and processes and promote a positive view of the test function.
Responsibilities:
- Support automation testers on shifting left critical scenarios
- Create and document comprehensive and well-structured test plans and test cases.
- Logging test executions and tracking defects.
- Support on the investigation and troubleshoot of issues and non-conforming software.
- Liaise with Product Owners and Technical Business Analyst to understand requirements
- Analyse requirements to identify all relevant tests scenarios and edge cases.
- Execute tests during the development lifecycle, at sprint and release level
- Staying up-to-date with new testing tools and test strategies.
- Work with developers to understand the flow of code
- Testing the modules and component parts of the application in isolation and integrated
- Estimating, prioritising, planning and coordinating quality testing activities.
- Tracking quality assurance metrics around defects.
- Recognise routine tasks as learning opportunities and seek ways to improve/automate
- Implement datasets to support, functional, integration and E2E testing activities
- Identify potential issues and escalate to the team and prime testers
Requirements:
- 2+ years of experience as a Quality Assurance Tester
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience in writing clear, concise and comprehensive test plans and cases
- Basic understanding of API calls and JSON structures
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Hands-on JIRA experience of transitioning user stories to completion
- Basic interaction with FTP and XML Structures
- Knowledge of using software QA methodologies, tools and processes
- Ability to execute regression scripts and report accurately
- Well versed in software development and testing life cycle
- Experience working in an Agile software development team
- BSc in Computing Science or equivalent combination of training/experience
- Basic database interrogation skills (SQL)
- Analytical mind and problem-solving aptitude
- ISTQB certification is desirable
- Familiar with queueing and data stream systems
- Understanding of Test Case Scenarios written in Gherkin syntax
- Attention to detail
- Familiar with automation principles and desire to augment capabilities
- Understanding of analysing issues and Route cause
- Understanding of system integration testing methodologies, defect tracking systems, and Quality Assurance process
- Hands-on experience with black box testing
