The FCA’s Innovation department is looking for talented, motivated and outcome focused individuals with varied experience and backgrounds to join our enthusiastic and diverse team. We sit within the Data, Technology and Innovation Division, which is at the forefront of transforming the FCA as we meet the demands of a digital regulatory future.

We are currently recruiting for a Lead Associates in our Strategy and Engagement team. This is a critical role that will work hand in hand with the Manager of Strategy and Engagement to delivery on the vision, strategy and implementation of the teams work. With line management responsibilities, this is a perfect opportunity for a strong people manager to drive a unique portfolio of work forward.

Strategy & Engagement is an exciting team within Innovation. Our primary focus is to keep our finger on the pulse with regards to domestic and international innovation developments. This involves key stakeholder management, ensuring a good understanding of Financial Services innovation both domestically and internationally. The team is also responsible for the Global Financial Innovation Network (GFIN). GFIN is an exciting and well established network, providing members with opportunities to exchange views and collaborate with over 80 regulators.

Responsibilities:

• Management: coaches, mentors and provides guidance for team members. This can involve allocating work (acting as team coordinator/leader). May formally manage small team of up to 3 people.
• Stakeholder management: leads relationships/owns relationship strategies with internal or external stakeholders and includes international engagement. Stakeholders are often of high profile/importance to FCA (internal or external) and political and cultural acumen are vital for the role. This goes beyond building and maintaining relationships with individuals that facilitate the work of the team.
• Project/Work complexity: project manages or takes a lead on the most complex assignments and projects which have greater consequence or are considered higher profile. Such tasks may require longer term planning from the role holder.
• Responsibility for technical issues/leadership: acts as escalation point for the wider team with regard to highly technical issues and in some cases contributes to the technical leadership of the team.
• The opportunity to shape the national and international agenda and direction of innovation in financial services, especially through GFIN.

Requirements:

• Ability and track record of deliver through others, maintaining team dynamics and motivation.
• Extensive experience of working with a range of stakeholders, demonstrating a multi-lateral and international focus.
• Demonstrate experience in operating in an international environment with a high degree of political sensitivity and cultural awareness.
• Experience of influencing and delivering through stakeholders.
• Experience of planning, prioritising and leading the delivering of work through others to time and quality standards, including managing or leading on more complex projects or assignments.
• Demonstrate the ability to translate complex innovation concepts, benefits and challenges into concise briefings and presentations to ensure key internal and external buy in.
