Facebook is seeking a strategic thinker to join our North Africa (including Egypt & Sudan) Public Policy team as a Public Policy Manager. You will work on issues related to the Internet and Facebook’s mission of giving people the power to build community and bringing the world closer together. In this role, you will be responsible for understanding Facebook’s policies and business priorities, being able to communicate those to policymakers and stakeholders. Additionally, you will collaborate with colleagues across the business and the globe, engage with trade associations and third party groups.

Responsibilities:

• Advise internal colleagues and teams on public policy matters to help guide the development of products, services and policies
• Represent Facebook in meetings with external policymakers and stakeholders
• Establish and maintain relationships externally with policymakers, industry leaders and civil society organizations
• Identify, monitor and analyze relevant policy trends and issues of importance to the company
• Cross-functionally work with internal stakeholders such as communications, legal and the broader policy team
• Articulate our policy positions in briefing papers, consultation responses and internal policy meetings
• Communicate Facebook’s positions to policymakers and to external stakeholders
• Develop and execute strategies for engaging with external policymakers and civil society leaders around issues important to Facebook and the people we serve
• Advocate, internally and externally, policy positions that keep Facebook and the broader technology industry competitive and innovative

Requirements:

• Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
• Ability to work in a matrix environment and collaborate cross functionally while being accountable to public policy matters
• Deep knowledge of North Africa and North African policy environment
• Proven track record in policy partnership/campaign building in the technology field
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Superb English and Arabic verbal and written communications skills
• Knowledge and experience in policy on areas including privacy, content, safety/security, social good, innovation, entrepreneurship and internet governance and connectivity
• 15+ year experience in the field including 5+ year experience in public policy in technology or media
• Bachelor’s degree in Law, Public Policy or related field
