Job Description

We are looking for a DevOps expert that can help shape underpin our application landscape with solid codified infrastructure that makes deployment and ephemeral environments a breeze. For experts to help us manage our infra cost base and make the best use of the AWS platform.

There is (as with all other non full-stack roles), plenty of scope to move up and down the stack too and hence support our back-end developers.

There’s a great opportunity for disruption in the UK energy market. We’re one of the big suppliers, we’re agile and move quickly when it comes to tech. We’re evolving our IT landscape from traditional on-premise monoliths to a collection of scalable, independent micro services which enable us to react to the fast paced nature of business and uncertainty.

Our Software Engineering practice is at the heart of this transformation, and is a multi-disciplined team with generalists and specialists; be it front-end, back-end, DevOps, SRE or QA – everyone’s welcome!

We are supported by strong collaboration with our architects, delivery leads and product owners and our methodology is based around agile delivery, DevOps structure and high amounts of test and pipeline automation. We’d love to hear from engineers who want to help shape, develop and grow our software engineering practice.

Our teams are set up to work flexibly, therefore you can be based anywhere in the UK. As long as you’re happy with the occasional travel to one of EDF’s office locations office to collaberate with the team.

Requirements:

• Ephemeral environments
• Observable, well instrumented code
• Full CI/CD, initiated from github.com based repositories
• Serverless over container over virtualization over on-premise
• Least privilege security access
• Unit testing as standard (linting, Jest, Cypress, etc.)
• Everything as code (infra : Terraform or Serverless framework)
• Pair programming, BDD and developer testing, over a QA team
• Cloud native (AWS)
• Trunk based development
