Position Title: Assistant Private Secretary to the Finance Director

Job Description

The post holder needs to be an influential and proactive leader who not only supports the Directorates in achieving their vision but also builds effective relationships across the department.

The post holder will need to engage effectively and enhance Finance Groups relationships with stakeholders – including Ministers, Cabinet Office, and Finance customers across DWP.

This fantastic opportunity involves working very closely with the Directors and their Senior Leadership Team daily. The role will provide you with a wider understanding and knowledge of working in a director’s office, which will see you collaborating with colleagues across the Department.

You will be required to effectively manage several competing priorities and lead and team members.

Responsibilities:

  • Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain complete confidentiality.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to communicate confidently with senior leaders across the department.
  • Ability to work proactively and efficiently, and to thrive in a challenging environment and prioritising own workload.
  • Strong organisation skills and ability to forward plan – a good working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and OneNote is required.
  • Sound level of judgement and ability to deal with often very sensitive matters.
  • A positive approach to working in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements:

  • Experience working in an Executive Assistant or Private Office role.
  • Excellent communication skills when dealing with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of seniority.
  • Excellent organisation skills.
