Job Description:

Based in Swansea, you will be part of the External Communications team who are responsible for all external-facing communication and media activity at DVLA. This role is based in Content and Marketing, which will allow you to embrace your creative flair and communicate using a wide variety of channels.

If successful, you will have the opportunity to showcase your writing skills across a number of channels such as GOV.UK, social media, letters, forms and other literature.

You will act as a subject matter expert on content creation, taking complex information and making it easy to understand for a public audience, as well as supporting DVLA’s no cost communications campaigns.

You will develop, maintain and improve current customer journeys, following current content publishing guidelines and Government Digital Service (GDS) publishing guidelines, where appropriate.

Responsibilities:

• Being able to recommend the most appropriate channels to satisfy user and business needs (based on all available insight).
• Monitoring of DVLA’s corporate social media channels to identify and report on any breaking news and trends; and write and publish proactive posts on those same channels.
• Collaborating with colleagues within DVLA and the wider government content community to design, agree and publish high quality content and services. This includes agreeing an evidence base for change, applying GDS publishing standards and working with GDS content team to update GOV.UK.
• Creating and publishing engaging and accurate content for a range of online and offline channels that achieves business objectives, is appropriate for the target audience, and meets user needs.
• Continuously produce and evaluate data to improve content. Understand user needs by analysing user research, feedback and other data to develop recommendations for improvements.

Requirements:

• The role requires you to be versatile and flexible in your approach to work, able to effectively prioritise your work and deliver against objectives.
• You will have excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with internal stakeholders such as service designers, operational teams, and doctors; and external stakeholders such as the Government Digital Service (GDS) and Department for Transport central office.
• You will need to be someone who has a passion for communications and creating engaging content.
• Digital communications feature heavily in the role so it would be beneficial if you are proficient using web-based publishing platforms such as blogs, social media and email alerts.
• You will be enthusiastic, creative, and a team player.
• You will be able to tailor your communications style to suit your audience.
