Job Description

The Category Manager is responsible for leading a team of commercial professionals, providing commercial advice and guidance to senior stakeholders. You will ensure that all aspects of the Commercial lifecycle within your Category are managed in accordance with DVLA Commercial Policy and Procedures, Government Commercial Function best practice, and in compliance with Cabinet Office Policy and the Public Contracts Regulations 2015. You will also support the broader Directorate and Agency functions through wider corporate responsibility.

Requirements:

• Timely delivery of business requirements balancing compliance with the Agency’s commercial and legal obligations as a Public Body with delivery of optimum outcomes.
• To proactively lead and develop a category team charged with providing commercial support and delivery.
• To foster an environment focused on commercial professionalism in line with the standards applied by the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply.
• Active management and development of the commercial category expertise.
• Work with Senior Stakeholders and Suppliers to ensure that complex contract management activity is undertaken in line with Best Practice and maximizes the opportunity to explore and deliver efficient and sustainable commercial arrangements.

• We are looking for an experienced Commercial professional with outstanding stakeholder engagement and relationship building skills, which allow you to influence and challenge across all levels. You must be a confident communicator and be comfortable in challenging others and providing leadership for your stakeholders and team.
• The successful candidate must be willing to work towards completing the MCIPS qualification within 3 years, if not already qualified.
