Job Description:

We are looking for Engineers that have a range of blended skills in Networks and Cyber Security to help support world class digital services where you’ll be part of a team delivering both service excellence and agile change.

You will be expected to be comfortable troubleshooting Network issues, using monitoring and analysis tools. You should be able to read and edit a network diagram and derive network flows for applications.

You will have knowledge in a range of activities of a Security Operations Centre (SOC) including using a SIEM (Security Incident and Event Management) tool to monitor security events for potentially malicious activity. We expect that such knowledge will be evidenced, such as by possession of relevant qualifications (e.g., certification as a SOC analyst), though evidence of actual practical application will also be accepted in cases. You will have a real understanding of risk and have experience of making security relevant decisions based on assessing risks. You will be a strong advocate for change and continuous improvement, recognising the benefits of promoting a change culture within your team.

Responsibilities:

• Develop own skills and actively coach and develop others
• Work as part of a team to provide knowledge, help and advice
• Develop and maintain good relationships with stakeholders across the business
• Monitor technology performance and identify opportunities to improve it – continual improvement ethos
• Facilitate small and large changes – working alongside DVLA’s Network and Cyber Security communities
• Develop an understanding of DVLA’s services.
• Follow and/or contribute to the development of documented processes
• Demonstrate knowledge of Networks and Cyber Security
• Work on your own initiative
• Hands on experience investigating and handling network incidents
• Hands on experience investigating and handling security incidents

Requirements:

• LogRhythm or a similar SIEM tool
• F5 or similar load balancing technologies
• SolarWinds or a similar Network Monitoring Tool
• Experience in managing Web Proxies
• Experience in managing WiFi.
• Checkpoint, Juniper, Palo Alto or other similar Firewall solutions
• Experience in connectivity between Hybrid on-premise and Public Cloud
• Juniper/Cisco enterprise class routing and switching
