Job Description

Responsibilities:

• In this role, you will lead client development work, with responsibilities across all phases of the client development funnel – from lead generation and capture to building proposal propositions and maintaining great relationships with clients during projects and beyond.
• As it’s a client-facing role, you will establish and maintain relationships with key individuals in client organizations, share with them our capabilities, gather insights on, and help respond to upcoming opportunities. You will advise our teams on whether and how to pursue opportunities and make recommendations for generating new ones. You will work with our teams to construct strategic relationship plans with potential and existing clients while managing the client opportunity pipeline and designing campaigns and initiatives together with the Client Service Team (CST). You will also support teams in the development of written materials for client development discussions and meetings.
• When preparing proposals, you will make judgements on how best to bring McKinsey’s capabilities to serve the clients’ needs, including identifying partners with whom McKinsey could team up with.

Requirements:

• 7+ years of professional experience either in a client development role in professional services or service delivery organization working with relevant public sector clients and/or in one or more public sector organizations
• Deep understanding of the function of public institutions and delivery units in the UK public sector, including navigating commercial teams and procurement.
• Working knowledge of key public sector priority topics including economic strategies, public financial management, digital transformation, transport & infrastructure among others.
• Successful track record in developing and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders in the public sector (central and local government) preferably across multiple organizations either through serving them as clients or working in relevant public sector bodies (including EU institutions)
• Experience designing and delivering go-to-market strategies and coaching teams on client development strategies, creating interest in opportunities, and managing the pipeline
• Creativity, experience, and initiative to generate and pursue innovative ideas
• Ability to work collaboratively at all levels; ability to build consensus and lead delivery without formal line authority
