Position Title: EQUIPMENT ELECTRICIAN

Job Description:

The ideal candidate will have Journey level industrial electrical background in maintaining, installing and troubleshooting Motor Control Centers, PLC’s, plant process electrical equipment and lighting as well as some wastewater plant experience. Knowledge and understanding of NFPA 70E safety requirements as well as some experience with SCADA or equivalent supervisory controls and data acquisition system would be a plus. The City recently completed a $192 million dollar modernization of the 46 MGD wastewater facility located at 5950 Acorn Street Riverside, CA 92504. The project included advanced treatment systems and new technology. This plant expansion introduced several new technologies designed to produce high quality effluent water and increase the plant’s efficiency.

Responsibilities:

• Install conduit, wire, relays, pull boxes, switchboards and switches in making additions, extensions or alterations in electrical systems.
• Maintain, repair and replace electrical and electronic equipment, including motor, and pumps, generators, controllers, switchboards, switches and electronic boards, circuitry and components.
• Troubleshoot, test, locate and repair defects in electrical and electronic circuits and equipment to 4160 volts.
• Assist in installation and modification of in-plant telephone system and the maintenance of electrical metering and telemetering equipment.
• Operate a variety of electrical diagnostic and test equipment.
• Assist in general plant and facility maintenance activities.

Requirements:

• Highly desirable, Grade I or II  Electrical/ Instrumentation Technologist certification issued by the California Water Environmental Association (CWEA)
• Knowledge of SCADA or equivalent system
• PLC experience in installation, troubleshooting and programming
• Experience working with higher voltage; up to 12kV
• Experience working in a motor control center
• Experience working in an industrial setting (manufacturing, food, wastewater, refinery)
