Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced energy compliance professional to lead Bulb’s compliance team headquartered in London. This is a full time role reporting to Bulb’s UK General Manager.

As Head of Regulation you will take responsibility for developing and executing our compliance strategy in the UK market and leading a small team of compliance specialists. We’re looking for a self-starter who has experience across energy risk and compliance and regulatory affairs who enjoys solving complex problems.

Responsibilities:

  • Improving Bulb teams’ understanding of current and future regulatory requirements.
  • Help Bulb teams to find and fix regulatory issues quickly and in the member’s interest.
  • Helping build a proactive culture to regulation across Bulb and developing Bulb’s compliance programme, including supplier management and team training.
  • Shaping the future design of energy system regulation to support the uptake of new technology and achieve Bulb’s mission to lower CO2 and bills.
  • Managing Bulb’s relationship with Ofgem, as our primary contact with the regulator.
  • Ensure that Bulb’s Senior Leadership Team and Board have great oversight of Bulb’s regulatory risks and issues.
  • Managing a risk-based and data-driven compliance monitoring and reporting system.
  • Developing and executing Bulb’s regulatory compliance strategy.

Requirements:

  • You have excellent communication skills and are able to communicate complex ideas in a simple fashion.
  • You have experience working with an energy regulator.
  • You are collaborative by default. You are comfortable working at all levels of the organisation and also keen to roll your sleeves up and get stuff done.
  • You are well-organised, hard-working and detail-oriented, with the ability to prioritise and manage numerous projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • 5+ years experience working in energy regulation or compliance
  • You are comfortable interpreting regulations and how they apply to Bulb.
  • Experience working in a consumer organisation who can champion consumer interests with regulatory bodies would be a plus.
  • You have strong knowledge of the energy market.
