Job Description
The Data Managers works part of the Data Management team to establish and build the British Council enterprise approach to Data Evidence and Performance. The post will work as part of a small team of Data Managers tasked with ensuring that organisational data in relation to scale and impact is captured accurately as part of the Results and Evidence Framework. The role will create and maintain taxonomies, data hierarchies, KPI definitions as well as supporting the automation of processes and data flows to improve efficiencies and access to data. The role will support building capacity and maintaining networks in Countries and Regions including providing training to colleagues. The team works closely with business units across the organisation to support business and strategic solutions for delivering data management practices.
Responsibilities:
- Implementation of data standards including operational data models, business rules and operational definitions tailored to enable consistent global business use
- Management of processes to standardise, prepare for linkage, and more broadly exploit key strategic data
- Creation and maintenance of a searchable data catalogue providing an overview of all British Council data sources, data lineage, data models, dimensions, and key performance indicator definitions
- Establish global data standards upon which collection of data are based/measured and ensure that these standards adhered to
- Formulate techniques for quality data collection to ensure adequacy, accuracy, and legitimacy of data
Requirements:
- Proven ability in translating complex data specifications into usable datasets across all types of non-financial and financial data
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Power BI to prepare and analyse large datasets
- Familiarity with building quality processes to monitor data quality standards
- Familiarity with statistical techniques and their application in a business environment
- Confident in working with raw data and skilled in managing, interpreting, and evaluating activities using qualitative and quantitate data.
- Knowledge and experience of quantitative analysis and methodologies
