Job Description:

User experience (UX) design is the process design teams use to create products (such as Boots.com or the Boots app) that provide meaningful and relevant experiences to users. This involves the design of all required aspects such as branding, design, usability and function. The UX Team within Boots.com is a specialist and growing function, responsible for leading the overall digital user experience strategy of Boots. The team is primarily focused within Boots.com and Digital Retail, although their skillset is also required by other business areas (Pharmacy, IT, Loyalty) on a regular basis

The Senior User Experience Manager is a new role to support the growth of Digital Retail, this role is responsible for leading all aspects of the digital user experience for Boots, shaping the UX agenda, developing the team and driving best practice. This role works closely with stakeholders across boots.com and other departments – particularly IT, marketing and loyalty – and is a key member of the Digital Transformation leadership team.

Responsibilities:

• Define, develop and lead all aspects of the digital user experience for Boots
• Lead the User Experience team and activities, and shape the future UX agenda
• Member of the Boots.com/Digital Leadership Team and Digital Transformation Team, participating and contributing to the overall growth and success across the Boots.com team
• Act as Subject Matter Expert on digital, ecommerce, agile development, UX and CX
• Own all aspects of the development and production of the User Interface (UI) for Boots.com
• Lead the creation of new, engaging digital experiences as a senior UX/UI practitioner
• Manage prioritisation, negotiation and progress reporting of digital user experience development with Senior Executive Level Stakeholders
• Manage and develop the growing UX team and provide technical and professional leadership
• Own all aspects of the User Experience (UX) process from research and testing through to development
• Be accountable for leading, overseeing and defining all digital user experience activities

Requirements:

• Strong presentation, communication and stakeholder management skills
• Track record of building strong, collaborative, relationships and working cross-functionally with diverse teams and external partners to deliver business objectives
• Forward thinking and innovative – able to identify and implement opportunities for improvement in both the work and ways of working including challenging the status quo
• Data driven and customer centric
• Significant experience (8+ years) in User Experience management role, leading user experience design and development within a user centred design methodology in a rapid growth business with a substantial eCommerce presence (+£300m turnover) and digital first approach
• Proven ability to create, lead and develop dynamic, high performing teams, with experience in managing a team’s workload across multiple complex projects, sometimes with changing priorities and deadlines
• Exceptional product design skills, production values and attention to detail, with strong visual communication ability, conceptualisation ability and sketchbook technique, as well as ability to create fully annotated wireframes, clickable prototypes and visual design comps
• Exceptional understanding of principles of Human Computer Interaction (HCI), user interface design patterns and understanding of contemporary user-centred design (UCD) methodologies (including research, analysis, problem solving, testing and iteration)
• Significant experience of managing all aspects of user experience development including user testing, user research, UI production and all user experience activities – as well as contributing to the strategic direction of the organisation
