You’ll empower our multi-disciplinary digital teams to design, build, maintain and improve personalisation services for our amazing national and global audiences and realise the full potential of BBC News Service

Responsibilities:

As our Senior Product Manager you’ll add value by helping to define the proposition across the News apps portfolio, and leading an agile development team directly delivering software.

News on mobile is an extremely important part of the BBC’s mission in delivering public service value, in a market which is changing at an exponential rate. As our product lead you’ll intrinsically understand and develop the potential of a native app to drive habitual usage, and contribute to the wider narrative about how native app experiences can help BBC News better achieve its aims for more audiences.

We’ve got a great mandate to increase civic engagement and connection through informing the conversation on culture. With your track record of a user-centred methodology, you’ll strategize about how best our audiences can get the best out of their News service.

Requirement:

• You get the big picture: Working upstream in a cross-functional setup contributing to an app ecosystem AND/OR experience working with systems that scale to millions of users, with high expectations around reliability, quality and accessibility, and where there’s a lot of complexity and inter-dependence.
• You steer the ship: Demonstrating leadership of contributing to and nurturing healthy product cultures in the workplace, building team culture that supports and enables feedback loops, and learning about audiences and the impact of our work.
• You can communicate to anyone at all levels: Demonstrable experience of influencing, building support for your ideas, getting people aligned behind supporting and participating, and demonstrating that support publicly.
• You’re technically competent:- Evidence of contributing to the definition of product proposition and creating a dynamic app experience for users. Being comfortable adapting to changing requirements, short delivery timeframes and tight deadlines.
• You’ve got the right priorities: Demonstrating focus on outcomes over outputs, how to define and articulate product strategy, roadmaps and priorities using data-driven insights and your own judgement. Even better, show us how you do this as an individual and as a team contributor.
