Position Title: Orthoptist

Job Description:
An exciting opportunity has arisen within our orthoptic service and we are inviting applications from enthusiastic and self-motivated Orthoptists. We would consider applications from newly qualified Orthoptists. You will receive a warm welcome from our friendly and dynamic Optical Services’ team at the Eye Treatment Centre consisting of 9 Orthoptists, 14 Optometrists and administration staff as part of our busy ophthalmology unit with the nursing, medical and administration teams.
We cover all ophthalmology specialties including paediatrics, neuro-ophthalmology, glaucoma, corneal and medical retina and we have a busy eye emergency service. You will work closely with the other members of the orthoptic and ophthalmology team in a supportive environment to provide the highest standard of care to our patients.
Responsibilities:
- Your timetable will be varied and interesting based at Whipps Cross University Hospital with the opportunity to work at community clinics and special schools. There is the scope for involvement in extended role work e.g. paediatric chalazia and naso-lacrimal duct obstruction.
- The post-holder would be expected to develop and maintain a programme of continuing professional development in accordance with the recommendations of the NHS and British and Irish Orthoptic Society (BIOS).
Requirements:
- Applicants must have a degree or diploma in Orthoptics and registration with the HPC is essential.
