Job Description:

Arsenal Football Academy is the football development department for Arsenal Football Club, based at Hale End Sports Ground and London-Colney, offering a full time football training programme for elite youth players. Arsenal Football Club Academy has for many years been a world leader in its field. The aim of the Arsenal Football Academy is to individually tailor each player’s development as a footballer by providing a World Class Youth Development programme.The programme promotes the development of elite training environments to consistently outperform international competition. By placing players at the heart of the programme, the aim is to develop and grow Strong Young Gunners, within the most challenging and caring football academy in the world. Each player’s development is therefore considered holistically with focus placed on supporting players to show Respect, Discipline and Humility as they aspire towards becoming better people and consequently, better players. JOB PURPOSE To assist in the delivery of an effective and successful coaching programme for the Academy’s U23 squad, delivering and developing performance pathways and plans and creating an optimum environment for Professional Development Phase players to develop and grow, with the biggest focus being on the four pillars: creating effective team players, lifelong learners, most efficient movers, and a champion mentality. To promote exercise compliance, safe training practices and the benefits of sport & fitness to youth players.

Responsibilities:

• Lead players to develop and coordinate all individual and team training sessions – To cater for the needs of the players both individually and collectively in order to maximize the potential of all our players in this age group.
• Assist U23 Head Coach to prepare and debrief matches.
• Effectively assist with and/or lead sessions and games.
• Work with the Head of Academy Coaching to comply with PL, FA and EPPP rules and requirements – ensuring that PMA is kept up to date.
• Ensure accurate and effectively documented individual player review meetings from the relevant phase.
• Work closely with the physical, analysis, psychological and operations support staff.
• Hold responsibility for ensuring that appropriate sessions are implemented to cater for all players on the programme and demonstrate a progressive and transparent structure for all players to progress.
• Provide a reporting platform to give constructive feedback at the end of each term for players and to work with the relevant phase coaching team to implement.
• Actively seek out ways to improve the coaching programme and assist with the implementation and operation of these ideas, alongside the U23 Head Coach.
• As an active member of the youth squad selection team, analyze the skills and capabilities of individual players through player progress meetings

Requirements:

• Proven experience in: Operating in a high-street retail environment.
• Directly line Managing circa 4 heads. Indirectly coordinating the activities of circa 50 workers
• Understanding commercial needs support the Team Leader and Team Manager to drive sales, service, cost control and fan experience. Experienced in driving a team to deliver. Sales. 1st Class Service.
• Store Standards.
• Cost Control.
• Stock management.
• Visual Merchandising.
• Behavioral expectations Proven experience in Shop floor and Window Visual Merchandising.
• Ability to make commercial decisions based upon company trade reports.
• Has led and coordinated stock takes and loss prevention processes, post result action plans implemented. Has controlled high volume deliveries and stock file management.
• Proven in Creating & forward planning activities 3/6 months in advance to ensure delivery against the Retail Operations Plan and as directed by the Team Leader and Team Manager.
• Providing feedback on individual’s performance and taking ownership for developing/coaching individuals at the request of the Team Leader to improve store and teams’ performance as required.
• Has managed performance improvement plans and has experience in performance management. Has attended weekly and monthly manager’s meetings, contributed to the topics being discussed with factual and credible information being shared.
• Has worked with third party suppliers and has negotiated best prices for consumables. Is a pro-active manager rather than reactive
