Job Description:

The Aviation Department which operates the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and the North Perry Airport is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Accounting Manager – General Ledger & Financial Reporting to work in the Aviation Finance Division. This is specialized work in the management of the Operating Budget and General Ledger Group responsible for directing and coordinating fiscal functions and support services for the Aviation Department at the Ft. Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport and North Perry Airport. This is an exciting opportunity to be a part of a dynamic organization and results orientated team.

Responsibilities:

• Preparation of quarterly and annual financial statements and various other financial reports for internal and external use.
• Maintenance of the general ledger for Aviation funds, including supervising the monthly financial closing process and monthly general ledger accounts reconciliations, reviewing and monitoring of various general ledger account activities and balances; recording of adjusting journal entries and accruals.
• Directs staff in analyzing data and providing financial information to support contract negotiations, contract comparisons and other management decisions.
• Develops and maintains unique and highly complex rate configurations in the computerized accounting systems.
• Preparation and review of the annual operating expense budget and the presentation of the budget to appropriate authorities.
• Coordination of and primary contact for audits performed by public accounting firms.
• Manages the activities of staff to ensuring that all County accounting is performed in accordance with the prescribed accounting and administrative standards and regulations.
• Performs related work as assigned.
• Manages the Financial Reporting, Operating Budget and General Ledger Group in the Aviation Department’s Finance Division.
• Development and maintenance of internal accounting controls.

Requirements:

• Monthly financial close process management experience
• Airport specific finance or auditing experience
• Masters in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field
• Budgeting and Forecasting experience
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent
• Accredited Airport Executive Certification (AAE) or Airport Certified Employee (ACE)
• Advanced Excel skills
• Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE)
• Certified Management Accountant (CMA)
• PeopleSoft experience
