Position Title: Handling Advisor

Job Description

Provide Moving and Handling assessments for service users applying safe practice as stipulated by legislation and in accordance with Bon Accord Care’s policies, procedures and standards/values.

Responsibilities:

• The ability to promote the safe moving and handling of both people and objects
• The ability to promote dignity, respect, choice, independent living and work in an anti-discriminatory way
• The ability to assess, plan and review and maintain and develop clear and accurate
  records including risk assessments and support plans
• The ability to communicate effectively and work in partnership with service users,
  staff, carers, families and internal/external professionals to achieve improved
  outcomes for service users
• An ability to work as part of a team, providing guidance and support to team
  members
• The ability to work autonomously and be accountable, while at the same time
  recognising when matters need to be referred to a more senior manager
• The ability to work accurately with detailed information
• The ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines
• A flexible and creative approach in order to manage resources effectively
• The ability to effectively use a range of IT packages including the use of Microsoft
  Office
• The ability to challenge and improve practice

Requirements:

• SVQ 3 Social Services and Healthcare at SCQF level 7/other relevant qualification
• Membership of Back Exchange Moving and Handling (or be willing to undertake)
• CENTAUR Instructor or equivalent for moving and handling (or be willing to
  undertake the relevant training)
• PDA in supervision or willingness to work towards if the role required
• Protection of Vulnerable Groups Scheme Record (PVG) or willing to become a
  scheme member
• A full current UK driving licence and use of a vehicle for work purpose
