Job Description

The BBC Audience Planning team is currently looking for a Head of Audience Planning to manage our Content Team. The Content team focuses on our TV output on our TV channels and BBC iPlayer.

Planners put insight at the heart of the BBC’s creative output; across programmes, products, services and brands. You’ll work directly with the creative leaders across our content and digital products, such as iPlayer or BBC Sounds, to crystallise strategic challenges, spot opportunities for the future and help shape our content and product accordingly. It’s an exciting and varied role where you’ll bring creative flair and strategic rigour to the BBC’s decisions.

Responsibilities:

• Shaping content and commissioning strategy across our TV/Content division
• Working on programme development with editors and commissioners for projects such as a new season for TV
• Working with product developers and user experience teams to shape the functionality, design and curation of BBC products such as BBC iPlayer
• Working on pan-BBC projects such as understanding the needs and content preferences of minority audiences
• Evolving the channel proposition for one of the BBC’s brands and working to ensure it informs our output

Requirements:

• Comfortable working with senior creative people and business decision-makers and be able to turn complex qualitative and quantitative research into compelling stories and inspirational stimulus for creatives.
• Someone who is passionate, motivated and inspired by the content, services and underlying public purposes of the BBC.
• A well-rounded individual who has craft skills in spades, but who is also able to make personal impact and build inclusive, trusting environments for creative project teams.
• Experience of leading teams (either line management or virtual/project teams)
• A curious and pragmatic problem solver with a natural flair for strategic thinking; bringing a fresh perspective to everything project you take on.
• Track record of influencing senior stakeholders’ creative decisions
• A collaborative style – someone who can bring different teams and skills together with the energy and resilience to make things happen.
