Job Description

We work with ITV, SKY, BBC, Channel 4 and many others. We have sites at Elstree and Television Centre in White City and we’re looking to grow. We want someone who has an appetite to learn, is interested in how things can be done differently and wants to contribute beyond their role to help us grow our business and the industry.

The Dialogue and Effects Editor will work within our Post Production Editorial Team dedicated to Eastenders. The role is responsible for adding the appropriate sound effects and music to the finished offline picture edit and smooth the dialogue edits, applying EQ and noise reduction as part of the process. The role will work with the Dubbing mixer who then mixes the tracks to produce the finished transmission sound.

Responsibilities:

• Set relative volume levels using your skill and aesthetic judgement.
• Smooth dialogue edits.
• Appraisal and assessment of audio quality.
• Liaise with the editor and Music Co-ordinator to add appropriate music to the soundtrack.
• In conjunction with the dubbing mixer, refine the tracklay to achieve a high-quality production outcome.
• Ensure the sound elements on production are both technically and stylistically accurate, utilising your creative flair in the decision making around this.

Requirements:

• Ability to manipulate sound for moving images.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
• Good working knowledge of Protocols.
• An understanding of the technical aspects of sound mixing.
• Good aural judgement and critical listening ability.
• Experience of the recording and post-production process.
• An understanding of the importance of sound design in complementing and enhancing production values.
• An appreciation of the needs of the customer.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced operational environment.
• Excellent knowledge of acoustics.
