Position Title: Transport Supervisor

Job Description:

The purpose of this role is to support the Transport, Night shift and Compliance Managers within the transport operational running of the site. You will be lead person on the night shift and will be responsible to ensure you are working with our driver teams to ensure a timely dispatch and conduct effective driver briefs and debriefs and support the management of safety and legal compliance.

Responsibilities:

  • Review driver daily check sheets with the drivers, ensuring that all vehicles are roadworthy, and any defects raised during vehicle checks are completed and all accidents/damage reported daily.
  • Undertaking H&S tasks e.g. yard walks, vehicle checks
  • On each shift, undertake the completion of relevant tasks, including:
  • Brief and debrief drivers to ensure that all instructions for their allocated runs are understood and actioned.
  • Create a clear wave plan to meet CPU requirements
  • Monitoring & managing information from the vehicle telematics system
  • During driver debrief action any issues highlighted by the driver systems, ( Tachomaster, Lytx )
  • Complete a minimum of 10% gatehouse checks, quality assurance checking Drivers are completing daily walk round vehicle checks correctly.
  • Ensuring all drivers are legally compliant using all applicable driver systems.
  • Ensure every driver is given correct route and delivery/collection point risk assessment, ensuring the vehicle allocated is correct for all duties, ( Height, weight, load capacity and any restrictions )
  • Working towards CPC desirable
  • Ensure that every worker is fully compliant with legislative requirements
  • Downloading of information from digital tachographs at the start and end of each shift
  • On your shift you must ensure all Driver and vehicle information is kept up to date on all relevant systems.
  • Act as first point of contact for any Driver issues that occur during the shift, If RTA/collision, collate relevant information as a start point for accident/incident investigation.
  • Ensure all admin responsibilities are completed including Kronos and driver admin
  • Managing and monitoring vehicle maintenance and service planner as well as VOR to ensure vehicles are fit for the road.
  • Ensure that operational procedures and general housekeeping are kept to a high standard
  • Ensuring all Drivers are fit to drive, where necessary request Drug and alcohol testing by onsite management.
  • Ensuring all new drivers (FTE, Agency) are licenced checked, assessed and inducted prior to first shift.

Requirements:

  • Experience of managing teams in a fast-paced logistics environment is a definite advantage
  • An understanding of Transport regulations ideally
  • PC Literate with a working knowledge of Microsoft office
  • Flexible approach to work to meet business requirements
  • Management experience of leading and managing a team
  • Good communicator and able to liaise at all levels
  • Must be able to work on own initiative in a pressurised environment to tight deadlines
